Steam showers are an option for those who wish to clean themselves, and relax in the process. A steam shower creates much more heat and humidity to clear the sinuses, relax the muscles and open your pores. A steam shower doesn't have to be a huge rebuilding project. To build your own steam shower, just follow a few basic installation steps.
.Cover the ceiling of your shower enclosure with tile or a plastic barrier, preferably dome shaped. These barriers can be found at any major hardware store. The heat and humidity in a steam shower rise, and the ceiling is the most important barrier to prevent them from escaping.
.Install a shower door that completely seals in the heat and humidity. Measure your shower door opening and buy a door that will achieve this result at your local hardware store. Follow the door's instructions for installation.
.Buy a steam generator and follow the instructions for installation. A steam generator takes the heat from a shower and recirculates it, creating more intense heat and humidity. Check to make sure your electrical system an handle the power needs of a steam generator, which are relatively minimal. If you have any uncertainly, check with an electrician.
.Place a plastic stool or chair in the shower. Owners of a steam shower often like to enjoy sitting in the shower and breathing in the steam.
.Test the steam shower to make sure all fittings are watertight and there are no leaks. Make sure you have the proper shower head, or shower heads, to help the steam generator function properly. Check the ceiling to make sure no moisture is getting through the barrier and into the structure of the ceiling
